Yves Cuilleron is not just one of the great winemakers of the Rhône, but of all France. Famed for his Côte Roties and Condrieus, Yves focusses on sustainable practices and traditional yet innovative techniques.
The "Bassenon" vineyard is located in the Côte Blonde area of Côte-Rôtie, near Tupin and Semons, where southern exposure ensures optimal ripening. The Syrah contributes depth, structure, and dark fruit character, while the small percentage of Viognier adds aromatic lift and a supple texture. Pair it with roast lamb or beef, particularly with herb-crusted or spiced preparations, game meats like venison or wild duck, or with mushroom-based dishes or truffle-infused risottos.
What the critics say:
"Vivid purple. Intense, sharply focused aromas of ripe red and blue fruits, licorice, exotic spices, apricot and olive. Stains the palate with sappy cherry, boysenberry and candied violet flavors. It steadily picks up spice and mineral flourishes with aeration. Well-concentrated and lively as well, finishing with excellent clarity, sneaky tannins and strong, floral-driven tenacity. "
