Tom's Christmas Case
Tom's Christmas Case
- Red, White & Sparkling
Starting off with bubbly, I always enjoy a bottle of Frerejean-Frères' Blanc de Blancs on Christmas morning and this remains my go-to top shelf fizz for special occasions.
For the two whites I've included Jonathan Maltus' 2021 Le Nardian Blanc which has been seriously good at tastings, and the gorgeous 2019 1er Cru Pernand-Vergelesses from Pierre Meurgey.
Red Burgundy always makes an appearance, and my top pick of the year is the magnificent Volnay 1er Cru Santenots from Eric Boigelot. Instead of Bordeaux I'll be enjoying the San Leonardo 2017 this year, which is perhaps the greatest early-drinking vintage from the estate I can recall tasting. Lastly, and for something more unusual, the biodynamic 2019 Laurel from Daphne Glorian's trailblazing Priorat estate Clos I Terrasses continues to impress.
It's a cracking selection of some of the best wines I'll be enjoying over the festive period.
