The 2023 growing season at Taupenot Merme began with a mild winter, followed by moderate spring and summer temperatures, and avoided extreme heat spikes. Early budbreak in April, mid-blossom in June, and veraison by late July led to a harvest from September 11-25, following a cooler, rainy spell in late August. Despite a season marked by an overall water deficit, careful organic management and two green harvests in July produced a balanced crop.
The 2023 wines show moderate acidity with alcohol levels ranging from 12.3-13.6%, and phenolic ripeness reached across each cuvée. Reflecting a restrained, terroir-driven vintage, these wines lean towards elegance and subtle expression, rather than overt power.

"The 2023 Saint-Romain Blanc has a quite primal bouquet of grapefruit mixed with light pineapple scents, and is quite leesy at the moment. The palate is rounded on the entry with tropical notes of pineapple and guava, plush and generous on the finish without losing tension. Delicious."
