The 2023 vintage in Burgundy was smooth overall, though two hailstorms in July caused a 25% reduction in crop on the hillside Premier Crus, Pucelle and Margotés. Marie and Paul maintain a balanced approach, focusing on texture and vineyard expression with a gentle use of oak: 12 months in 15% new 228L barrels. Larger 500L barrels also preserve the fruit’s vitality in Margotés. Whites have now been bottled—Premier Crus two weeks ago and village-level wines two months prior—while the reds are resting in tank, set for bottling in late November. This thoughtful approach preserves each wine’s distinctiveness and terroir.
