The 2023 harvest for Philippe Colin began on September 1, during warm, favourable conditions, producing wines with a fresher profile. Colin has transitioned to using primarily 500L oak barrels, contributing to a polished yet focused character in his wines. Village wines were bottled in mid-August, with Premier Crus set for December after Philippe returns from South Africa.
This vintage leans towards restraint and finesse, emphasising texture and energy rather than weight or acidity, making for a compelling and elegant collection.
"From young vines and aged in 50% new oak. Fresh acacia blossom aromas, with a broad and rich palate designed for aging."
Our note
What the critics say:
"Young vines and now Philippe only gets the fruit from his own plot. The class absolutely shows, a magical feeling of distinction, showing through the higher oak levels. Just one 456 litre barrel, new which as with En Remilly is slightly marking the wine in its youth. Superb grace and nuance with just the right acidity and surprisingly persistent given the youth of the vines (planted 2018). Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2024 ****"
