Romain Taupenot continues to oversee the inexorable climb of this fantastic domaine, now indisputably in the premier League, whilst retaining its value proposition. He crafts wines of structure, clear vineyard expression, and complexity from an exciting array of vineyards, and the wines are high class examples of their appellations.
Rich in Premiers Crus, Morey-Saint-Denis boasts also 5 Grands Crus (Clos de Tart, Bonnes Mares, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, Clos des Lambrays). The appellation forms a bridge, between the wines of Gevrey-Chambertin and those of Chambolle-Musigny.
Drinking window: 2023 - 2030
What the critics say:
"Medium deep purple. Slightly more aromatic charm here, a darker fruit, still with the characteristic spice of the vintage, but much more dark raspberry fruit covering the bones and the firmer finish. For me, a clear step up from the Chambolle-Musigny. Drink from 2026-2029. Tasted: November 2022."
"A slightly more deeply pitched nose is comprised by notes of plum, violet, cool earth and a hint of anise. Here too there is a relatively refined mouthfeel to the nicely vibrant and appealing textured medium-bodied flavors that possess slightly better depth on the persistent finish. This is a very good Morey villages that is also fashioned in an understated style. **Outstanding**"
