The 'La Pièce sous le Bois' is a fine Premier Cru that lies high on the slope above the hamlet of Blagny, just above Perrières. The warmest September on record at the time giving, ripe, sunny wines with an opulence rarely encountered in the 1990s. Lactic notes, pear syrup, preserved lemons, and a touch of smokiness on the nose. Palate has a richness but retains excellent acidity and finishes crisp and long.
The first 2025 release of mature vintages straight from the cellars of Domaine Robert Ampeau gives a very rare opportunity to enjoy Premier Crus back to 1990, at prices that are practically at the level of recent En Primeur releases. For such venerable bottles ex-estate, the following cuvées should prove very attractive indeed.
From this parcel, the white wines are available to buy together with the reds. Please enquire
As this wine has remained unmoved in the cold cellars at Ampeau since bottling, the conditions for a very slow, undisturbed ageing are perfect. We are unable to offer credit for corked/out of condition bottles, but our experience with these bottles is that the condition and ex-cellar provenance is impeccable.
