The 2023 vintage was a fine one in Mercurey with the main choices being selection of the best grapes in an abundant harvest and choosing the right date to pick in order to gain full ripeness whilst remaining fresh and not becoming over-ripe. The character of the wines isn’t too solar though – this is a superb year where nature did all the work and it was the winemaker’s job to select the best of the harvest.

What the critics say:
"This is a punchy, big wine with lots of personality. Red berries, wildflowers, sweet spice and soy work into the mix. The tannins have some brutish rusticity, but there is so much supple fruit, that they should be easily sopped up soon. Bright, focusing acidity guides the earthy, spicy finish."
