Always one of the highlights of de Montille's maison wines, Fourchaumes is one of Chablis' most vaunted 1er Cru vineyards.

Tasting this en primeur we felt it was an excellent, precise Chablis with lots of potential (hence we went long on a dozen cases), yet it has even exceeded our expectations. There is impressive weight and density here, full of orchard fruit, notes of honeysuckle & beeswax, a twist of white pepper, yet the tension and focus keeps everything nicely taut. This is touching Grand Cru quality for just £40 a bottle on your table.

Domaine de Montille

Domaine de Montille is now in its ninth generation under the stewardship of sibling duo Étienne & Alix, who have largely remained true to their father’s vision of creating elegant, pure and balanced wines.

In fact Étienne was instrumental in pushing the sustainability of the Domaine by abandoning all chemical fertilisers and herbicides in 1985 and fully transitioning to biodynamic farming in 2005.
