The Inglenook estate is perhaps most famous for being owned by Francis Ford Coppola, though make no mistake, the wines which hail from here are excellent. Named after the river which was crossed by Julius Caesar in 49 B.C., Rubicon is produced from only the best plots across the estate.
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of other Bordeaux varietals, the aim is, and always has been, to produce a wine capable of rivalling the best of Bordeaux, though with its own sense of place and tradition. Since 2016 the winemaking has been under the watchful eye of Philippe Bascaules who has taken the estate to whole new heights. Philippe cut his teeth right out of university with a job at one Chateau Margaux, eventually making his way up to Estate Director. This wealth of knowledge and prowess has been carefully implemented at Inglenook and the results are simply stunning.

What the critics say:
"Attractive and compelling nose of dark cherries, currants, spiced plums, grilled herbs, barkcedar and baking spices. Hints of toasted oak. It’s medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Layered and well-structured with a delicate character on the palate. Such poise with a precise and complex, developing finish. An amazing wine with balance and harmony with great length. Better after 2026."
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Rubicon charges out with powerful scents of cassis, ripe plums, and blackberry preserves followed by hints of cedar chest, violets, cardamom, and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate has impressive poise and finesse, with vibrant black fruit and earthy layers and beautifully ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and savory. This is impressive!"
