Domaine Georges Noëllat is one of Burgundy's most revered producers, with top scores from critics such as Allen Meadows, Neal Martin and Jasper Morris. The small estate is meticulously cared for by Maxime Cheurlin, who has elevated the Domaine to be one of the best in Burgundy. Maxime’s training included stints at Domaine Emmanuel Rouget and Gros Fere et Souer and his own style is one of pure elegance!

Drinking window: 2029 - 2045

What the critics say:

96-98/100Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"Five-Star Wine. A heady purple colour, still very youthful. The Grands Echezeaux has a greater weight of fruit while the Echezeaux deals more in nuance. Voluminous, in a very good way, nothing heavy, then a moment where the minerals emerge, then a little more oak to finish. Still on its journey but I think the potential is superb. Drink from 2032-2045. Tasted: November 2023. *****"

95-97/100Neal Martin, Vinous

"The 2022 Grands Echezeaux is aged in 80% new oak and was completely de-stemmed. It has a very floral bouquet, violets permeating the intense black fruit, becoming even more floral with aeration. And yet, it is a little distant, implying that it will require considerable bottle age. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy black fruit with fine tannins, satin-like in terms of texture. But the finish has a sense of linearity and strictness, so it's not an opulent Grands Echezeaux. Afford this several years in bottle. Superb."

About Domaine Georges Noellat

Despite owning vines since the 1920s, following a tumultuous period in the family, Georges Noëllat sold their grapes to the likes of Jadot and Drouhin in 1990, though in 2010, a fresh-faced 20-year old Maxime Cheurlin took over the estate from his grandmother and set about turning this from a virtually unknown domaine to the stratospheric heights it has now reached. The rise of Georges Noëllat cannot be overstated; this is one of the most in-demand domaines in the entire region and for good reason.
