Always reliable, and well-priced, with a number of standout cuvées, Domaines Bichot continues its good run of form with the 2018 vintage. Domaine du Clos Frantin, the flagship domaine, and increasingly the maison itself, produce benchmark wines which offer real value and character.
As Neal Martin comments, Bichot can make “really quite delicious, complex wines that often surprise people in blind tastings when not swayed by the label.” Head winemaker Alain Serveau is pleased that in 2018 the wines achieved sufficient concentration and structure whilst maintaining freshness and supple fruit.
"Les Murots is to the east of the village, on the lower slopes, with chalky clay soils underneath poor scree gravel. There is lovely concentration here and sappy, bright but rich redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit on the nose with a light touch of cacao and anise. The palate sees cherry and red berry fruits jostling with spice, earth and truffle notes. A real Gevrey that can be enjoyed quite early but will develop more nuances over the next decade."

"Subtle but pure notes of red cherry characterize the nose on this wine, adding lovely notions of iron oxide and petrichor. The palate falls into step with the same tart and shimmering fruit intensity, spreading a web of firm but ripe tannin and pervading the ripeness with fresh energy. It's a complex, aromatic and elegant wine."
"Bright, sparkling with black currant, black cherry, mineral and spice flavors. All its components are in place and the finish echoes fruit, graphite and spice notes. Best from 2022 through 2035."
