Another stellar set of wines from Albert Bichot. Bichot continues its unwavering commitment to excellence, crafting wines of precision and elegance. Certified organic since 2018, the domaine integrates sustainability into its approach, ensuring a thoughtful balance between tradition and innovation.
"This Echézeaux offers an aromatic blend of raspberry and blue fruits, with a sweeter, riper expression on the palate. Fine tannins and balanced acidity create a fresh, harmonious profile, suggesting significant potential for further refinement."
Our note
The 2023 vintage, shaped by Matthieu Mangenot’s expertise, reflects a shift from the previous year with less use of whole bunch fermentation, focusing instead on purity and clarity of fruit. Across the range, the wines showcase impressive structure, vibrant acidity, and nuanced expressions of their respective terroirs, promising early approachability for some and significant aging potential for others.
What the critics say:
"From the Champs Traversins sector. An elegant ruby, not the deepest, with some silky red fruit notes on the nose, finesse after the more brutal Clos Vougeot. This wine shows very well the Echezeaux characteristics of pinpoint detail, refined nuances in the fruit, and in this case the fruit has been picked at the right time and the structure supports it very nicely with refined tannins and correct acidity. Tasted Oct 2024 ****"
"Peppery and decisive, and although brimming with fresh, bright-red strawberries and raspberries, the tannins feel as if they've been measured and cut by a Savile Row tailor for a power-fit suit. Genial but very polished. Suave. "
