An extraordinary dry Riesling from the Mosel, Germany, crafted by Clemens Busch, a master of biodynamic winemaking. This Grosses Gewächs (GG), or “great growth”, is a pinnacle expression of dry Riesling, sourced from the prized Falkenlay parcel within the Marienburg vineyard. The vineyard's gray slate soils imbue the wine with a distinctive minerality and precision.

This wine is already beautifully integrated and can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop complexity over the next 10–15 years. It pairs wonderfully with seafood, poultry, creamy sauces, or dishes featuring fresh herbs and delicate spices, making it a versatile choice for fine dining.

What the critics say:

95+/100Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

"From weathered gray slate, Busch's 2016 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG "Falkenlay" offers a clear, pure and fine, highly complex and smoky bouquet of crushed stones and bright fruit aromas. Full-bodied, lush and salty, this is an enormously tensioned and intense Riesling that reveals a concentrated fruit core with a long, elegant and tensioned finish. The texture is almost silky and the minerality perfectly integrated. This is one of the finest of the 2016 GGs from the Mosel. Bottled in late September 2017; tasted February 2018."

93/100David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate

"Seed-inflected lime, grapefruit, apple and pear mingle both on the nose and on a silken palate with subtly stony and bracingly saline, crystalline mineral impingements. This displays a striking sense of density allied to alcoholic levity and transparency, finishing with vibrant, shimmering interaction of fruit and mineral elements. Conceivably it's just more developed (in an entirely positive way) than are this collection's other Grosse Gewächse (whereas Falkenlay was notably recalcitrant in 2015), but my suspicion is that this will retain an edge over its siblings in clarity and animation."
