Château Sénéjac, 2020
Château Sénéjac, 2020
- Red Still
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
The wines of Sénéjac are characterised by a deep colour almost black in their young years. The very expressive nose exhales scents of black fruits and spices. In the mouth, Sénéjac presents a lot of fullness and intensity while remaining suave and civilised thanks to the smoothness of its tannins.
As well as an impressive 93 points from James Suckling, Sénéjac scores 91 points for Jane Anson who, still reviewing for Decanter in 2021, included it in her shortlist of “Best-value Bordeaux reds 2020” where it was comfortably one of the least expensive featured.
Drinking window: 2023 - 2035
What the critics say:
"This shows aromas of blackcurrants and black cherries with cocoa, pine cones, toasted spices and nut shell. Medium-bodied with round and polished tannins and a fine texture. Some delicious fruit character coming through turning to a chalky and crushed stone yet juicy finish. Try in 2024."
"Gentle coffee smoke on the nose and spiced waves of flavour that add interest and complexity. This is a good wine with gentle acidities and enough autumnal berry fruit to carry it off. Juicy on the finish, this is another successful vintage at Sénéjac."
