Located in the heart of Chablis, Jean, son of Marius and Agnès Collet, founded Domaine Jean Collet in 1952. They look after around 40 hectare of vines that are spread over the best slopes of the right and left bank of the Serein. Their old vines are averaging 91 years old, which truly reflect the unique, rich sub soils and mineral strata that Chablis provides.
The domaine features as one of the Top 20 Chablis Producers in Tim Atkin's Burgundy 2023 Special Report.
What the critics say:
"Vinified and aged in barrels of one or two wines, this is exotically aromatic with exuberant floral tones and verbena tea accompanied by nectarines and tangerines. This comes from the southern side of Valmur with rows that go from the bottom to the top of the cru. The 50 ares were planted in 1972 by Romain's grandfather."
"Still in barrel. Some fresh pale yellow colour. Ripe orchard and plum fruit, plenty of generosity. There is fair length, possibly just a little light in tension through the middle, becoming more generous again right at the finish. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Jul 2024."
