Brokenwood, Semillon, 2020
Brokenwood, Semillon, 2020
- White Still
- Sémillon
Brokenwood was founded in 1970 by Tony Albert, John Beeston, and James Halliday, who bought a block of land in Pokolbin with the dream of making great wine. Initially intended as a Shiraz vineyard, the winery quickly gained acclaim for its exceptional Hunter Valley Semillon, now considered one of the benchmarks for the varietal globally.
With its fresh palate, waxy texture and citrus oil notes tempered by crisp acidity, Brokenwood's 2020 Semillon pairs excellently with seafood dishes, salads, and light poultry meals.
Optimal drinking window: Now - 2028
What the critics say:
"Excellent wax and honey aromas – already showing lovely maturity. Creamy texture, ripe lemon fruit, white chocolate too. This is a very strong example of the Hunter Semillon style in its sheer typicality."
