We're delighted to confirm that we managed to successfully wave the paddle at Sunday afternoon’s Hospices de Nuits. Prices were helpfully low (down 20%+ on last year), so we managed to trade up to a wonderful cuvée that we hadn’t thought we could afford – the Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru ‘Les Didiers - Cuvée Fagon’, which has the oldest vines of this famous plot. The price was down by 1/3 from 2022 so it's a superb win for Syndicate Members.
The final price is roughly 98% of the nominal Share Price, so well within budget. We last bought this cuvée back in 2020 and it has produced an exceptional wine of depth, vibrancy and profundity. This is easily one of the finest Hospices Cuvées - perhaps the best of all - so we're thrilled to have sourced a barrel of this.
Our tasting note is ‘Magnificent colour. Slightly discreet nose but with great depth, notes of plum, ripe prune, minty freshness. Lovely concentration on the palate, deep and balanced’.
The barrels will be transported to our éleveur Laurent Delaunay of Maison Edouard Delaunay for maturation, bottled next year and delivered to the UK in late 2025 / early 2026.
All that remains is to thank Syndicate Members for participating and we will look forward to sharing more information about the wine as it develops in barrel!
